Drake To Receive Songwriting Award


Drake will be receiving the Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame gala. Drake joins a list of already inducted songwriters such as Alicia Keys, John Legend, John Mayer, and Taylor Swift on June 6th. Congrats to Drizzy on this incredibly accomplishment!!
Drake may have missed out on a Grammy, but his songwriting talents will not go unrewarded. The hip-hop laureate will receive the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame gala.
The Young Money rapper will be honored for making a significant impact to the music industry through his original songs at an induction and awards dinner to be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 16.
“Drake is one of music’s brightest new stars lauded for his songwriting prowess, melodious hooks, and emotionally transparent performances,” read the press release. “[His] skill of commanding a diverse audience through composition solidifies his position in the pantheon of great songwriters of this generation.”
Songwriters Hall of Fame Chairman and legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb added, “Drake shines as a talented songwriter with a unique vision and we are pleased to honor him with the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award.”
Drizzy joins the company of Alicia Keys, John Mayer, John Legend, Rob Thomas, John Rzeznik, Jason Mraz, and Taylor Swift, who have all been recognized with the Hal David Starlight Award.
