News: Young Money president Gives Real Reason Behind "Carter IV" Delay

With Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV now pushed back over a month, Young Money president Mack Maine provides the real reason behind keeping fans' anticipation growing.
Despite tracklisting and cover art leaks, Maine said the delay was in relation to Wayne's need to modify the LP.

"He's still perfecting a few things, he's a perfectionist ... changing a few lines," Maine said in an interview. "We also have a huge record that wasn't done yet. We're in L.A. right now. We have a little studio time and it should be done probably by Monday...If you calculate all of [the guest appearances], by the time we would've finished mixing, we wouldn't have met the [original] due date to turn in the album. So we had to push it back." (MTV)

This week, Maine confirmed the album's leaked cover art was authentic.

Earlier this week, rumors hit the 'net that Lil Wayne's highly anticipated album, Tha Carter IV, was pushed back from May 16 until June. XXLMag.com has learned exclusively, that the claims are indeed true. Young Money president, Mack Maine, informedXXL that Weezy's follow up to 2008's multi-platinum selling Carter III LP will be hitting shelves on June 21. We also confirmed that the graduation photo of a pre-teenage Wayne, sporting his signature facial tattoos that leaked online earlier this week, as well, is the official cover art to the disc. Wayne's new album artwork hit the Internet around mid-week.

Despite the album being pushed to June 14th, the official album artwork for the Young Money CEO Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV LP has hit the interwebs and has the net talking. Following on from the tatted up baby picture used for Tha Carter III, this installment of Tha Carter series features a slightly older version of young Weezy with his trademark tattoos added. Last week, an alleged Carter IV tracklisting leaked online.

An unofficial tracklist for one of the most, if not the most, anticipated hip-hop albums of 2011 landed on the internet this week. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV is scheduled for a May 16 release date, and on Thursday, Complex.com released what is a rumored album tracklisting for the Cash Money/Young Money superstar's upcoming project. The tracklist reveals Jay-Z, Eminem, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Gameand more as speculated contributors. (Hip Hop Wired)
