George "Elmer Fudd" Zimmerman

"SHHH... Be vewy vewy qwiet, I'm huntin Coons"

As a young man I have been stopped by the police and frisked for no other reason than the color of my skin more times than I can count on both my hands and toes. We can throw your hands and toes in the pot and there would still not be enough digits to cover the task. I know full well what it means to be targeted because of your skin color and every thing in this case seems to point in that direction.

Even though Zimmerman was not white (regardless that his sir name is a traditionally Caucasian/Jewish/German name) and this was not a "white on black" race crime... It was still a race/hate crime. If Zimmerman was black, this would still be a race crime. It would not get as much pres because blacks don't usually kill blacks BECAUSE they are black, and especially not at the alarming rate racist whites kill blacks (and no, I am not  insinuating that every black killed by a white is a race crime LOL). A little reported fact, many Latinos/Hispanics kill blacks with the same malice and intent that racist whites do. In fact many Hispanics think they are White and tend to share much of the hatred and disdain for Blacks that racist Whites do.

Let's be very clear... There are varying levels and degrees of racists. There's the racist with a few black friends that they would gladly kill in a heartbeat, if their black friends black kids tried to date their white daughter... All the way to the other end of the spectrum, Whites, that drive around in pickup trucks looking for a new Nigger to lynch. I don't think Zimmerman was either of these extremes... I think he was somewhere in the middle, closer to the lesser but yet close enough to the other extreme to be pushed over the edge to commit the same type of heinous crime.

Zimmerman's racist and bigoted thoughts and ideology placed him in a position where he thought his actions were justifiable. Granted, some local crime by blacks (real or perceived) in his community put an already simmering pressure cooker pot to boil and finally to burst... But were the pot not already simmering with racist thoughts it would never have  gotten to that boiling point.

I think race is the major player here, the true underlying issue and the main culprit. I think Race is proven when you hear the 911 tapes and they tell him to stay in his car and he responds "Fucking Coons", gets out the car and physically confronts Treyvon and ultimately shoots him to death. No matter how they try to slander and defame Treyvon. Zimmerman set up and created the circumstance that lead to the slaying of this young man.

To those dismissing the racial element to this case who say this is just something that one bad  human did to another human... I think as long as we look at it in that light, we will be doomed to repeat this over and over again. It reminds me of "guns don't kill people, people kill people". This crime was not only racist, but in some ways, it this kind of racism is the worst kind. It is the kind of racism where quite often the racist doesn't even think they are racists and since we never address it, it blows up in our faces. When we make it all about human vs human instead of about the racial hatred that motivated the crime, we never solve the real problem.

  1. Agree wholeheartedly with your post. Nothing will change until people stop ignoring the problem.
