Mariah Carey is “Embarrased” Over Gadhafi Performance

With both Beyonce and Nelly Furtado speaking out earlier this week on their performances for Libyan dictator Muammar Gadhafi, Mariah is the next to come forward. These ladies are 3 of a handful of stars that have done private performances for him and his family in the past, each receiving upwards of $1 million for the show. Bey and Nelly both donated their proceeds. After the jump, find out what Mimi had to say.

“I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess. Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from. We need to be more aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately, we as artists are to be held accountable.”
Mariah’s rep confirmed she will donate proceeds from her next single, “Save the Day,” to human rights charities. “Mariah has and continues to donate her time, money, and countless hours of personal service to many organizations both here and abroad,” her rep stated.
